Today marks 2 days before my TJR surgery! It has been a long time coming, and a long story that is sometimes hard to explain to family and friends. With this blog I hope to,

  1. Share with family and friends on how my TJR (total joint replacement) surgery is going.
  2. Be a resource for others struggling with severe craniofacial illnesses and issues centralized around the TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint).
  3. Help doctors, dentists, orthodontists, TMJ specialists and all those focused in dental and TMJ professions better understand what ICR is and
    1. How to spot it in their patients
    2. The treatments I have tried/ what worsened my past outcomes

For this initial period I will just write about my recovery from TJR, and include a quick “in a nutshell” video about my past jaw history to give friends and family a base point from why all of this jaw madness has occurred!

And just a fair warning – I have never been a great or humorous writer 🙂 I’m sometimes maybe terse and a little too tunneled in on specific details that I find interesting, and might not be feeling the best when I give updates. This has all been a game of chronic pain and planning my life around it, and I don’t expect the first few weeks of recovery to be any different! But I do appreciate you being here. My family, Ricky, close friends and closely knit online community of ICR friends have gotten me through the past 10 years of more intense medical issues and especially this last year. Thank you for caring for me and supporting me in this really weird journey that I never asked for a ride on 😉
